Your Daily Writing Prompt
This week, we are working on character development. Each Sunday, we start on a new prompt theme for the week. Read our opening post for this week’s prompts here.
Every time I make a grammar or spelling mistake when writing a blog post or a newsletter, someone inevitably points it out to me. I’m grateful with someone does correct me so I can make the correction. I am no grammarian. I believe this is why proofreaders and line editors exist.
When someone does correct me, I thank them and then express my frustration with my imperfections.
Then I stab myself.
Kidding.
Human beings are imperfect in so many ways. We have our own prejudices. We have quirks. We have vices. We have things we do when no one else is around.
Today, we focus on prejudice, imperfections, quirks, and vices.
Today’s prompt:
Fiction Writers: Make a list of ways in which your character is imperfect. What kinds of prejudices do they hold? What are some of their unique quirks, and what are their vices?
Memoir Writers: Pick one of the players in your story (could even be you). Make a list of ways in which that character is imperfect. What kinds of prejudices do they hold? What are some of their unique quirks, and what are their vices?
You can post your daily writing exercises in the comments section of the blog post if you’d like or you can post on our Facebook group. Or you can keep them to yourself. It’s all fine with me.
Go forth and write,
Nicole
